Margao, November 5: FC Goa host Bengaluru FC at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Friday in Gameweek 5 of the MG Indian Super League. Kick-off is at 7.30pm IST.
Bengaluru are third with seven points from three matches. They came from behind to beat Sporting Club Delhi 3-2, beat Chennaiyin FC 2-0 and then drew 1-1 with NorthEast United in Guwahati, where substitute Vinith Venkatesh equalised in the 93rd minute from Sunil Chhetri’s pass.
Goa are sixth with five points. They opened with a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin, needed a stoppage-time goal to draw 1-1 with Sporting Club Delhi, and then got their first win of the season, 2-1 against Inter Kashi in Pune. Francisco ‘Franchu’ Feuillassier and Christian ‘Chiki’ Borrego scored as they came from a goal down.
Bengaluru won the last meeting at Fatorda
Bengaluru won 2-0 when the two sides last met at this ground in April 2026. Chhetri and defender Namgyal Bhutia scored.
Team news
Goa coach Gouramangi Singh will not be on the touchline after he was sent off late in the Inter Kashi match. Aakash Sangwan, Harsh Patre and Ronney Kharbudon are also unavailable.
Bengaluru are without the injured Shivaldo Singh. Forward Mihailo Perović, an unused substitute in Guwahati, is expected to return if he passes a late fitness test.
What the coaches said
Goa assistant coach Shameel Chembakath said his side needed to be better in the final third and more organised at the back. “We respect them (BFC) but we have also prepared well, analysed them. For this game, we need to be organised defensively and manage every situation of the game. And also be brave whenever we have the possession,” he said.
Bengaluru head coach Pep Muñoz expects Goa to try to keep the ball. “They want the ball, they have Spanish players that I know quite well. I know how they play and what they can offer,” he said. “The tactics, the structure this weekend will change a little bit, because we have to face an opponent that plays differently, they defend in a different shape.”
The match will be shown live on the MG ISL YouTube channel, Sony Sports Network and SonyLIV. Read the report of Bengaluru’s draw with NorthEast United.
