Fatorda, 28 October: FC Goa came from behind to draw 1-1 with Sporting Club Delhi at the Fatorda Stadium on Wednesday, with Álex Vallejo scoring in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Juan Pena’s second-half goal had put Delhi on course for their first win of the MG Indian Super League season.
Goa make the early running
Both teams pressed high from the start. Goa had the first real chance in the eighth minute, when Samsanga went close at the far post. He then had the ball in the net in the 19th minute after Francisco Feuillassier played him through, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
The hosts kept pushing. In the 37th minute Muhammed Nemil took a good first touch to make space in the final third and fired just over the crossbar.
Pena punishes Goa on the break
Goa started the second half well. Nemil found Feuillassier inside the six-yard box, but Delhi goalkeeper Nora Fernandes made an important save to keep the scores level.
Delhi made the most of it. In the 52nd minute they broke quickly, Rodrigunho set up Pena, and the forward finished firmly with his right foot to make it 1-0.
Late equaliser in added time
Goa threw more players forward as time ran down. A Delhi defensive mistake in the first minute of stoppage time gave Vallejo a chance to cross, but Chiki could not hit the target.
The equaliser came four minutes later. Feuillassier swung a free-kick into the box and Vallejo timed his run to get in front of the goalkeeper and turn the ball in.
The goal kept Goa from a first defeat of the season and left Delhi still waiting for a win. Sporting Club Delhi had opened their campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Bengaluru FC.
