Mumbai, November 4: The Tata Mumbai Marathon has been ranked 21st among the world’s top 50 marathon brands in the 2026 Brand Finance Marathons 50 study and has won the study’s award for Strongest Economic Impact – Emerging Markets.

Vivek Singh, joint managing director of race promoter Procam International, received the award at the Brand Finance Marathons 50 2026 Awards. It was presented by marathon world record holder Sebastian Sawe and Alfred DuPuy, managing director for North America at Brand Finance.

More than 75 marathons assessed

This is the second annual study of marathon brands by the brand valuation consultancy. The 2026 edition assessed more than 75 marathons in nine markets: India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Australia.

The report estimates that the top 50 marathons produced a combined US$6 billion in economic impact for their host cities in 2025. It notes that marathons can lift tourism, hospitality, retail and other local businesses beyond race day.

Reaction

Singh said: “Marathons are no longer just races; they are engines of participation, city pride and economic activity. The Tata Mumbai Marathon has shown what an indigenously grown sporting property can become when purpose, scale and community come together.”

Scott Moore, head of sports services at Brand Finance, said: “The growth of marathon running across Asia, particularly in India, reflects the rising influence of mass-participation sport. The Tata Mumbai Marathon has played an increasingly important role in supporting India’s running ecosystem.”

Procam International also organises the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K and the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata.
