India left-arm spinner Sree Charani now holds the highest rating ever recorded in the ICC women’s T20I bowling rankings. She climbed to 817 points in the weekly update released on Tuesday.

That is 11 points above the previous record of 806, set by Australian seamer Megan Schutt in November 2018.

Charani took two for 13 against Sri Lanka in the women’s final at the Asian Games. The spell tightened her grip on the top spot and carried her past Schutt’s mark.

Mandhana back in the top five

Smriti Mandhana has moved up one place to return to the top five of the batting rankings. The 30-year-old vice-captain hit 79 off 46 balls in the final, with seven sixes and five fours, and put on 99 for the first wicket with Shafali Verma.

India made 216 for three, a Games record, and won by 147 runs to keep their gold medal.

Richa Ghosh, who made 49 not out off 22 balls, is up three places to 25th. Among the bowlers, Kranti Gaud has gained four places and is now 53rd.

Pakistan and Bangladesh players climb

The update also takes in the third-place match, which Pakistan won by 31 runs against Bangladesh to collect bronze.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana’s 45 off 30 balls lifts her four places to 23rd. Aliya Riyaz is up two places to 64th and Gull Feroza six places to 87th. Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter has jumped 10 places to 35th after her 46 off 45.

Pakistan left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu is back in the bowling top 10. Bangladesh’s Nahida Akhter has moved up two places to 29th, and Pakistan’s Umm-e-Hani has climbed 58 places to 51st.

Matthews rises after record 182

In the ODI rankings, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews is up three places to fourth among batters. Her career-best 182 against Zimbabwe in the ICC Women’s Championship series is the highest score by a West Indies woman.

Zimbabwe captain Modester Mupachikwa has gained 16 places to a career-best 40th after scores of 86 and 38 in the first two matches. The series is level at 1-1. Her opening partner Kelis Ndhlovu has moved from 61st to 56th.

For the West Indies, Aaliyah Alleyne is up eight places to 58th in the bowling list and Ashmini Munisar has moved from 107th to 84th.

Shafali Verma had climbed to fourth in the batting list a week earlier. Read that rankings update.
