Shafali Verma climbs to fourth in ICC women’s T20I batting rankings

Shafali Verma has moved up two places to fourth in the ICC women’s T20I batting rankings after her maiden T20I century at the Asian Games.

The India opener made an unbeaten 100 against Bangladesh in the semi-final at Nisshin, after an unbeaten 40 in the win over Japan. The update counts matches up to Monday, so India’s win over Sri Lanka in Tuesday’s final is not included.

Indian bowlers hold the top two places

Shree Charani stays No. 1 in the bowling rankings on 799 points, with Deepti Sharma second, 70 points behind.

Kranti Gaud has climbed 15 places to 57th and Nandani Sharma 22 places to 72nd. Both are on career-best ratings, 461 and 432 respectively.

Gains for Pakistan

Shawaal Zulfiqar rose 16 places to 29th with a career-best 558 points after scores of 25 against Indonesia in the quarter-final and 54 against Sri Lanka in the semi-final. Ayesha Zafar, who made 71 in the same semi-final, jumped 31 places to 40th and is also up nine to 30th among all-rounders.

Sadia Iqbal moved up one place to eighth in the bowling list and captain Fatima Sana five places to 24th. Bangladesh’s Sanjida Akter Meghla is now joint-49th and Thailand’s Onnicha Kamchomphu joint-63rd after taking three wickets against Pakistan.

South Africa sweep Zimbabwe

Miane Smit jumped 63 places to a career-best joint-53rd after a century in the fourth match of South Africa’s 5-0 series win over Zimbabwe. Player of the Series Anneke Bosch, who scored 214 runs, is up eight places to 46th.

Zimbabwe’s Nyasha Gwanzura moved 28 places to 87th in the bowling list after taking four wickets at an economy rate of 7.41.
