Oracle Red Bull Racing has extended Isack Hadjar’s contract, keeping him alongside Max Verstappen for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The team announced the deal on September 23. Verstappen is already under contract until the end of 2030.

Hadjar returns to the car at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix after recovering from a wrist injury. Liam Lawson, who stood in for the last three races, goes back to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.

First season at Red Bull

Hadjar is the 11th Red Bull Junior graduate to race for the team, following drivers such as Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Verstappen. He qualified third on his debut for the team at the Australian Grand Prix and took a podium in Monaco. Before his injury he had put together seven consecutive top-six finishes.

“We’re very excited to continue our journey with Isack. Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision,” said Laurent Mekies, CEO and team principal.

“The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can’t wait to see him back out on track.”

Hadjar said: “I am really excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing. I came to this Team eight months ago and immediately understood the scale and ambition of this organisation.”

“From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the Team, and with the support of Laurent and everyone in Milton Keynes, I’ve been able to justify the faith they’ve had in me.”

Back on track in Baku

“I’m just so excited to get back into my car,” Hadjar said before the race weekend. “The last month has been tricky for me; it’s the first time in my life that I’ve not been racing and that’s a weird feeling to get used to.”

Verstappen, second in Madrid last time out, said the Baku City Circuit needs a balance of straight-line efficiency and downforce. “It is a challenging, technical street circuit, but is exciting to drive,” he said.

Red Bull have won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix five times, more than any other constructor. The race is on Saturday. The 2027 season will run to a 24-race calendar.
