Hong Kong, 21 October 2026: Sussex club captain John Simpson will lead England at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, which runs from 30 October to 1 November at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.

The wicketkeeper-batter heads a seven-member squad. England are in Group A with Australia and Hong Kong, China, and reached the semi-finals in 2025.

In India, the tournament will be shown live on the Sony Sports Network and streamed on FanCode. This year’s edition is also the first with JSW Sports as commercial partner, the organisation’s first tie-up with an international sporting property.

England squad

John Simpson (captain), Edward Barnard, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Jack Carson, Martin Andersson, Daniel Mousley, Nathan Gilchrist.

County experience

Simpson, 38, has played county cricket for more than a decade. He captained Sussex to promotion in 2024 and scored 1,086 County Championship runs in 2025. His three ODIs for England came against Pakistan in July 2021, and he was in the MCC squad at the Hong Kong Sixes in 2017.

Edward Barnard captains Warwickshire in all formats and won the T20 Blast with Worcestershire in 2018. Jack Carson, the Sussex off-spinner, led his county in the One Day Cup this season.

Derbyshire all-rounder Martin Andersson took 6 for 23 against Leicestershire in the Vitality Blast in May, the best T20 figures in Derbyshire’s history, and was the PCA Player of the Month for May 2026.

Daniel Mousley, a left-handed Warwickshire batter who bowls off-spin, has played ODIs and T20Is for England and was in the squad at last year’s Hong Kong Sixes. Fynn Hudson-Prentice of Sussex adds seam bowling and batting, while Zimbabwe-born Warwickshire fast bowler Nathan Gilchrist brings pace.

Six a side, six overs

Each side fields six players and bats for six overs, so every player is expected to contribute with bat and ball.

Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director of Commercial and Marketing at Cricket Hong Kong, China, said: “England bring a rich cricketing heritage and some of the most capable all-round talent in the county game to the Hong Kong Sixes 2026.”

Afghanistan have named Gulbadin Naib as captain, and Abu Hider Rony will lead Bangladesh.
