Hong Kong, 12 October 2026: Bangladesh internationals Abu Hider Rony and Sabbir Rahman Roman head a seven-member squad for the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, with Rony named captain.

Bangladesh reached the Plate Final last year and return to the six-a-side tournament from 30 October to 1 November. They are in Pool B with Sri Lanka and Scotland.

The squad

  • Abu Hider Rony (captain)
  • Samiun Basir Ratul
  • Chowdhury Md Rizwan
  • Mrittunjoy Chowdhury
  • Ahrar Amin
  • Sabbir Rahman Roman
  • Habibur Rahman Sohan

Nadif Chowdhury will travel with the team as manager.

Experience and returning players

Rony has played ODIs and T20Is for Bangladesh. He also played at the Hong Kong Sixes last year and took four wickets in the Plate Final against hosts Hong Kong, China.

Sabbir Rahman Roman brings more international experience. He had a strong 2026 Top End T20 campaign in Australia, scoring 184 runs in seven matches with two half-centuries.

Samiun Basir Ratul, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Habibur Rahman Sohan were all in last year’s squad. Sohan scored 85 runs in that edition. Chowdhury Md Rizwan and Ahrar Amin complete the group.

Unfinished business from 2025

Bangladesh came close to silverware last year. They lost the Plate Final to Hong Kong, China by one wicket, and the 2026 side will try to go further, starting with their Pool B games against Sri Lanka and Scotland.

How the Sixes works

The Hong Kong Sixes is played with six players a side and six overs per innings. The format rewards fast scoring and players who can contribute with both bat and ball.

This year’s tournament will be played at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.
