New Delhi, 16 October 2026: The DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI) has launched a player support programme to help Indian professionals earn places on international tours.
Under the programme, the tour will cover qualifying-school expenses of up to INR 3 lakh for players in its top 30. Any of those players who go on to qualify will receive a further INR 10 lakh.
The support applies to overseas qualifying schools, including those for the DP World Tour, the Japan Golf Tour and the Asian Tour.
The programme was announced at a press conference at the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club on Friday, attended by DP World PGTI President Kapil Dev and CEO Amandeep Johl.
“This organisation is about the players”
Johl explained how the money would work.
“The DP World PGTI is covering qualifying-school expenses of up to ₹3 lakh for players in the top 30. If they qualify, each player will receive ₹10 lakh,” he said. “At DP World PGTI, we have always been clear that this organisation is about the players.”
He said the aim was to give Indian golfers more than one way to reach the world stage. “The traditional route from the DP World PGTI to the international stage used to be through the Asian Tour,” he said.
The support is designed to let players concentrate on their golf rather than the cost of chasing a card abroad.
Kapil Dev backs the move
Kapil Dev said the tour would keep looking for ways to send its players overseas.
“We will do everything in our power to enable our players to get maximum playing opportunities on the international stage,” he said.
He also welcomed DP World’s role as the tour’s title partner. “We are very happy and delighted to have DP World as a partner,” he said.
More than money
The tour also plans to improve players’ access to practice facilities, take golf to tier-two and tier-three cities through its NexGen series, and increase prize money and the number of tournaments on the calendar.
At a separate media interaction during the week, Johl said the tour was inviting players from the Sunshine, Korean, Thai and Japan tours, adding more events co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour and the HotelPlanner Tour, and funding Indian players at overseas qualifying schools.
An existing pathway
The DP World PGTI already offers one direct route abroad. This season’s Order of Merit winner, decided at the end of the DP World India Championship, earns full playing rights on the DP World Tour for the 2026-27 season.
The new programme extends support to a larger group of players, covering those ranked inside the top 30 who choose to try their luck at Q-School on other tours.
DP World became the title partner and official umbrella partner of the tour in January this year under a multi-year agreement.
