New Delhi, 16 October 2026: Angel Hidalgo, Joost Luiten and Adrian Meronk shared the clubhouse lead on eight under par after a long second day at the US$4 million DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club on Friday.

Om Prakash Chouhan remained the best-placed Indian. He had played only two holes of his second round, both pars, when darkness stopped play, and was provisionally tied 17th after his opening 68.

The tournament was still catching up after storms wiped out nearly five hours on Thursday. Conditions were perfect on Friday, and some players faced 36 holes. Play was halted for darkness at 5.54pm with more than half the field still to finish the second round and 12 players yet to start it. It resumes at 6.45am on Saturday.

Three at the top

Luiten played the most golf of the leaders, completing 34 holes with rounds of 68 and 68. Spain’s Hidalgo matched those scores, while Meronk added a 69 to his first round. Hidalgo and Meronk each played 31 holes on the day.

Meronk, who recently won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, held the outright lead after birdies on the 14th, 17th, first and eighth, but dropped his only shot of the week on the ninth, his final hole.

“Obviously a little bit disappointed with the bogey on the last, but it’s still a good round and I’m happy with the day of work,” the Pole said.

Belgium’s Thomas Detry was also on eight under after birdying three of his first six holes in the second round. English pair Todd Clements and Eddie Pepperell were one shot back on seven under. New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier shot a 64, the best round of the day, to move into a tie for eighth, two shots behind the leaders.

Chacarra and McIlroy on the move

Eugenio Chacarra, who could go top of the Race to Dubai with a strong finish, was seven under through five holes of his second round when play stopped.

Rory McIlroy eagled the first and was four under for the tournament after four holes of his second round. His Ryder Cup team-mates Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre were also four under after four holes.

Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed shot a 69 in the morning wave but was level par for the week, on the projected cut line, and faces a wait to see if he plays the weekend.

Indian players

Chouhan, who played on the DP World Tour in 2024 after topping the DP World PGTI Order of Merit in 2023, will return early on Saturday to complete his second round.

Anirban Lahiri, a two-time DP World Tour winner, finished his second round in 73 to go with his opening 70. He was tied 46th and assured of playing the weekend.

Saptak Talwar, the DP World PGTI Order of Merit leader, was also tied 46th. He followed his first-round 71 by playing his first seven holes of the second round in level par.

With so much of the field still on the course, the cut will not be made until the second round is completed on Saturday morning. Read the first-day report.
