Melbourne: Australia defeated India by 65 runs (D\L) in the first match of the tri series here on Sunday. India won the toss and put Australia to bat in a rain effected match. Australia posted a total of 216 runs in the 32 over match. Hussey brothers were the main contributor along with wicket-keeper opener MS Wade who scored 67 runs.
In reply, India was bowled out for 151 runs in the 29th over. McKay was the most successful bowler for Australia picking four wickets and giving away only 20 runs. For India, Virat Kohli was the top-scorer for India; he scored 31 runs before getting out on the bowling of McKay.
Vinay Kumar took early wickets in Australia’s inning and it was their Opener Wade who took the responsibility of seeing the inning through and was adjudged the man of the match for his fifty on his debut.
