IHF Federation Cup: Karnataka beat Tamil Nadu 4-3

hockey-200New Delhi: Karnataka beat Tamil Nadu in a pool A game of the Alchemist IHF Federation cup 2013 at the Shivaji Stadium 4-3. TN took an early lead with a Vinod Rayer goal in the third minute of the game and Adam Sinclair doubled the lead in the 16th minute. Karnataka came back strongly and took a 4-2 lead through goals from Cariappa AD, Changappa PS and a couple from the skipper Deepaqj Beijawad. A second goal from Vinod Rayer in the 65th minute wasn’t enough for TN to save the day as they lost their first game of the tournament.


Pool A: Mumbai VS Delhi

Delhi rode on Ashok Kumar two goals two beat Mumbai 4-2 in their group match. Mumbai took the lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Osafa Ur Rehman and were again in the lead at the 47th minute with a goal from Vikas Topo. However, Delhi made a quick comeback to clinch the tie 4-2. Rajbir Yadav and Ravi scored the other two goals for Delhi.


Pool B: Punjab VS Manipur

Punjab routed Manipur 22-1 as Manipur suffered another huge defeat in two days. Parvinder Singh made the most of the lackustre Manipuri side and netted 8 goals. Rajin Khandulna netted 5 and Gurdeep Singh scored four. O Boniyam scored the only goal for Manipur.


Pool B: Haryana VS Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh came out victorious against Haryana in their group match 5-2. UP was leading 3-0 at half time with goals from Pramod Kumar, Sunny Sonkar and Sarabjit Singh. Farooqh and Pratiner Singh added a goal each for UP. For Haryana Samsher and Pravesh found the back of the net.
