India beat Hong Kong 76-67 in FIBA Asia ChampionshipNew Delhi: A phenomenal performance by Poonam Chaturvedi helped India beat Hong Kong in the 21st FIBA Asia Championship for U-18 women at the Bandaraya Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on Monday.

Charturvedi fired in 32 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to saw India win 76-67 and register their third consecutive victory.

India pocketed the first quarter 19-13 and the lead proved crucial for them after the second quarter as both the team scored 18 points. India by the virtue of their good first round maintained their six points lead.

After the change of ends, India increased their stronghold on their match and won the third quarter 20-16. Hong Kong tried to force a comeback and won the final quarter 20-19 but then that was not enough.

Apart from Poonam, the other notable contributors Sharanjeet Kaur with 16 rebounds and PS Jeena who made 11 collections.
