New Delhi: After her sister Babita had won a bronze medal at 2012 Women’s World Wrestling Championship a couple of days ago, Geeta Phogat created history by bringing the second medal for India at the event when she beat Ukraine's Nataliya Synyshyn 3:0 in the final of repechage 1 round in Edmonton, Canada on Saturday.
Earlier Babita had broken the six year’s jinx by winning a bronze in the 51-kg freestyle, while Geeta won the bronze in the 55 kg weight category.
Earlier in the tournament, the 2012 Olympian beat Akziya Dautbayeva of Kazakhasthan in the first repechage round.
Silpi Sheoran and Navjot Kaur of India finished fifth in 59 and 67 kg categories.
