Copenhagen: Kaia Kanepi who defeated Timea Babos 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(2) in the second round of the E-Boks Open here on Wednesday.

Kanepi playing in her fourth match since Australian Open due to an injury made a lackluster start to the match and dropped her serve in the third game. However she fought back impressively to break Babos twice to win the opening set.

The second was just as evenly contested, but Babos prevailed this time around to run away with the set. Nevertheless, Kanepi did not let the pressure mount on her and she won the third set with her 12th ace of the match.

Other players who cruised through in the semis are Mona Barthel, Petra Martic and Alizé Cornet, after picking up respective victories over Alberta Brianti 6-3 6-2, Johanna Konta, 6-2 6-3 and Patricia Mayr-Achleitner, 6-2 2-6 7-5.
