Bangkok: India’s ace cueist and multiple time billiards World Champion Pankaj Advani claimed a sensational 5-4 victory over former World Pro Champion Ding Junhui in one of the standout clashes on the opening day of Sangsom 6Red World Championship 2016 at Bangkok, Thailand.
Advani who gave up the tour card in 2015 is constantly performing well and had won 3 world amateur titles and one regional gold after that.
On today’s victory Advani said “I think I have it in me still to do a little bit of damage. I don’t know how far I’ll go but it’s always nice to beat one of the favourites for the tournament and probably the best Asian player to have ever played the game.”
Meanwhile Asian junior bronze medallist Ishpreet had mixed results on opening day. he lost his first match against Mark Davis 0-5 but won the last session match 5-3 against Mohamed Shehab of UAE.
However, the reigning national billiard champion, Sourav Kothari lost his both the matches 3-5 and 0-5 against Michael White (Wales) and Noppon Saengkham (Thailand) respectively.
