Dubai, 7 October 2026: India captain Shreyas Iyer has climbed 18 places to a career-best seventh in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings after his maiden T20I century against the West Indies in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Iyer’s unbeaten 102 from 43 balls, with 10 fours and six sixes, took the world champions to an eight-wicket win with 32 balls to spare in the first match of the home series. Read the match report.

He is now India’s third-highest-ranked T20I batter. Ishan Kishan leads the rankings, Abhishek Sharma is second and Tilak Varma is 10th, giving India four batters in the top 10.

West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford’s 56 in Lucknow has lifted him 10 places to 37th. India teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has moved up eight places to 46th and Pakistan’s Hasan Nawaz 62 places to 48th after their Asian Games outings.

Axar into the top 10 as Rashid returns to No. 1

India left-arm spinner Axar Patel took two wickets in each of three matches last week to gain 16 places and reach seventh in the T20I bowling rankings.

Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, who returned none for 29 and one for 29 in the Asian Games semi-final and final, has lost top spot to Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. It is Rashid’s eighth spell at No. 1, and he has already spent more than twice as long at the top as any other bowler.

Bangladesh’s Nasum Ahmed (up three to eighth) and Mahedi Hasan (up 10 to ninth), Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara (up 18 to 48th) and Pakistan’s Saim Ayub (up eight to 62nd) also gained ground.
