Berne: Spain sounded the warning bells to their UEFA EURO 2012 rivals with a successive win in their warm up games before the tournament that kicks off next month. World and the European Champion displayed an attacking display of football to defeat Korea Republic 4-1 here yesterday.
Spain who made seven changes to their squad that started against their 2-0 win against Serbia started off well and it was Fernando Torres who opened the scoring for his team in the 11th minute and it was first international goal since almost a year. But the La Roja saw their lead getting cancelled as Korea's Kim Do-Heon found the equalizer.
There were chances created by but could not reap any more success in the first half. Seven minutes into the second, Xabi Alonso scored from the spot to take a crucial 2-1 lead in the match.
There was no stopping the champions after that and a free kick Santi Cazorla saw them stretching the lead and they dealt one more blow just 11 minutes from time when Alvaro Negredo found the nets after receiving a cross from Roberto Soldado in the box. It was Negredo’s sixth international goal.
Spain would now take on China in Seville on 3 June before starting their EURO title defence against Italy in Gdansk a week later.
