Mumbai: The greatest battles are not always fought on the field. As the King and the Queen – along with the Rooks, Knights and Bishops – strut around on a checkerboard, a game of power unfolds and victory is seized with one brilliant move. Checkmate!
 

Witness the battle of wits between Woman Grandmaster and Asian Women’s Chess Champion, Tania Sachdev and the winner of the upcoming nationwide Blitz Chess tournament – Red Bull Battle for the Queen. Participants will be seen engaged in a mentally intense and stimulating game of strategy and sportsmanship, pushing all boundaries.


The hunt for India’s most talented and ingenious chess player will commence in Kolkata on August 23, followed by Delhi on August 24, Chennai on August 31 and Mumbai on September 2. Four best players from each of these cities will face-off in the national finals at the legendary and scenic Mehtab Bagh, Agra. With the magnificent Taj Mahal as the backdrop, the national winner will go on to challenge Tania Sachdev.


Rules & Regulations


• Blitz Chess is a form of chess in which the contestants get only a fixed amount of time to play


• The tournament will be played under FIDE's Blitz Chess rules


• Five minutes to each player to finish the game without any increment


• In case of a tie, the Bucholz tiebreak system will be used to determine the final placing
