New Delhi: Sports Media India, a national association for all professional sports journalists in the country comprising print, television, radio and internet was launched today with top sports media personnel joining the executive board.
Sports Media India has been founded with the professed aim of fostering cooperation and solidarity among sports journalists of various media platforms and to promote sports journalism in the country. The national association, which offers direct membership to all professional sports journalists across the country, will strive to secure the best working conditions for performance of their duties as national and internationals sports events staged in India.
Press Trust of India’s Sports Editor M.R. Mishra was elected founder President of Sports Media India, while Bobilli Vijay Kumar, National Sports Editor of The Times of India, is the First Vice President.
Sukhwant Basra, National Sports Editor of Hindustan Times, and Eenadu’s Sports Editor R. Santosh Kumar were elected Vice-Presidents, along with Gaurav Kalra and Vikrant Gupta, Sports Editors of CNN-IBN and Aaj Tak, respectively. The Vice-Presidents include Divya Marathi’s Vinayak Dalvi and Nikhil Naz of New Delhi Television.
Santosh Suri of The Times of India (Lucknow) is the founder Secretary of the national association, while Digvijay Singh Deo (CNN-IBN) and Vinay Nayudu (The Times of India, Mumbai) are the Joint-Secretaries. Samip Rajguru of Aajtak television channel is the Treasurer.
