Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday got court permission to use loudspeakers and microphones at the Eden Gardens on match days subject to prescribed regulations.
A division bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising justices P.K. Ray and Dipankar Dutta allowed KKR to use loudspeakers, microphones and public address systems on match days provided the sound level did not exceed 90 decibels.
Following an order by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) banning the use of loudspeakers in specified areas which included stadia, KKR which plays its first match Thursday, moved the high court March 30 seeking an exception from the ban.
The court described the order as ambiguous as it did not mention specific parameters including permissible decibel level to effectuate the ban, and allowed the club's prayer to use the sound systems. (IANS)
