New Delhi: The Opening ceremony of 10th Delhi State Wushu Championship from Jan. 28 to Jan. 30, 2012 was organized by Delhi Amateur Wushu Association in Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi today.
The president of the Sports Authority of India Mr. Desh Deepak Verma said, “This is a wonderful game and we are picking up very well in this game. Delhi as a state has taken lot of interest in promoting Wushu. Sandhya Rani has been awarded Arjuna Award and Bimal Jeet has been awarded Rajiv Gandhi award by the state government of Delhi. So it is our endeavor to promote this sport as far as possible in Delhi. We organize this every year.”
The Delhi team player Kirti said, “This game is very good for health. I have been playing this game from the past three years, it also prepare us for self defense”.
In this championship 10 to 12 teams will participate and a total number of 500 players including players from Air Force, CRP, ITBP, Paramilitary Force, Delhi Wushu Academy will participate.
