Faridkot: The historic city of Faridkot today witnessed three interesting matches in 2nd World Cup Kabaddi in which in Pool a India crushed Germany, 70-18, Canada rauted Afganistan 63-15 and Australia showed his dominance by crushing Nepal 68-23.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal specially came to Faridkot to cheer the team and expressed resolve to take Kabaddi to Olympic level. He said that during last 2 years alone Punjab Government has constructed 14 sports stadiums at the cost of Rs. 150 crore.
Indian Kabaddi Captain Sukhbir Singh Sarawan impressed the home crowd and India was leading 32-7 by interval and concluded the match 70-18.
Indian raiders Sukhbir Singh Sarawan , Dulla Surkhpuria and Ragi Kheawal scored 9 pointes each. Whereas Stopper Ekem Hanoor got 8 stops. Mangat mangi got 5 and Gurvinder 4 stops.
Earlier in the 2nd game Canada crushed Afganistan 63-15. Canada team that was 38-4 at lunch finished with 63-15. Canadian Raider Lalia scored 8 points whereas Stopper Sandeep Gurdaspuria was credited with 8 stops.
Australia crushing Nepal by 68-23 in the first match of Pool- A. Australia that was 36 – 6 in the half time maintained its dominance on Nepal that had made maiden an entry into World Cup this time.
Australia learning from last World Cup mistakes maintained its dominance from the beginning. Nepal participating for the first time in the World Cup after a good show in Asian Kabaddi held in Iran could not stand before the experience of Australia. The Australia that was 36-6 at half time sealed the match by winning it convincingly by 68-23. Australia’s four raiders Sony Koinke, Gurpreet Singh , Pindri Badhani and Romi Lalto scored 9 points each whereas Australian Stopper Davinder made his mark by 6 stops. Nepals raider Naval scored 7 points.
