New Delhi: South Korea stamped its authority in the sixth Asian Women’s Youth Handball Championship here at the IG Indoor Stadium on Sunday, defeating Uzbekistan 38-15. Today’s win was third successive in the league phase.
As expected Korean girls dominated the contest and scored from all angles to race to 22-7 in the first half. The score line in fact reflected the eventual winners domination in the match.
On the other hand Uzbekistan had height advantage, but weren’t able to overcome the challenge of speedy Koreans who scored on regular interval in the second session.
Korea’s Sora Kim, she scored as many as six points, combined well with Suhyeon Moon and Myungi Jun and took advantage of Uzbekistan’s weak defence to gain the upper hand.
If the Korean girls scored outright win over, Japan 36 had to struggle beating Kazakhstan 25.
In fact, Kazakhstan looked like upsetting the Japanese going up by 2-0, but weren’t able to sustain its tempo and it helped Japan comeback in the match.
In another match of the day, China beat Chinese Taipei 33-21. Half time score was 14-12 in favour of China. The first half was close contest but in the second session, China pushed hard to which the rivals were not able to match the pace.
