Manjit is first woman Indian MMA winner

manjit kolekar  red corner    mona mounir  blue corner   2 Mumbai: After winning the SFL Challengers, Manjit Kolekar must have thought that this would be the end of her SFL journey but little did she know that she would one day conquer her dream of winning an international fight.
Manjit Kolekar, a female fighter from Mumbai who won the SFL challengers last year has managed to wow everyone with her determination and grit. She just won her first international fight against Mona Munir from Egypt against all odds.

The simpleton in her own words likes to brawl and channelizes her energy through fights. A self confessed SFL baby, she says she has achieved her dreams through her trainers at the SFL who turned a raw amateur like her to a professional fighter.

 Now clearly a star, she was overheard saying that she owed Raj Kundra  and Shilpa Shetty  a lot as they helped her mentally and financially through SFL.  She credits SFL with the recognition that she has achieved. It is believed that the youngster idolizes Shilpa and has had immense support and concern form the Bollywood Diva. Sources close to Manjit says that she receives compliments and words of encouragement from the Nach Baliye judge which excites the fighter to no end.

 Clearly a fan favorite, her introduction in the ring send the audience in frenzy, enjoying every second of her moves the crowd including Shilpa ,Raj and Rohit Roy started chanting her name. By the end of the match, she obliged the audience with a little of her trademark Mumbai thumkas which were liked and reflected by a horde of people as well.

Says Shilpa, “I think women should learn to protect and defend themselves. I have personally seen her grow in the SFL training camp from this raw diamond to an accomplished international fighter  and I feel she has had the most touching journey in the SFL. I feel ecstatic that she has proved my confidence in her right and has put Indian women on the MMA world map.”
