Indian shooters win 10 medals at Air Gun C’ship

Indian shooters win 10 medals at Air Gun C’shipNanchang: The Indian shooting team consisting of 36 shooters and 7 officials returned from China with a rich haul of medals from 5th Asian Air Gun Championship, Nanchang, China. The overall medal tally was of Gold 2, Silver and Bronze 5 medals.


The team of 36 shooters consisted 12 seniors, 12 juniors and 12 Youth category shooters (men and women).


The maximum medals were won in juniors and youth category where they beat Chineses shooters. Malaika Goel, a junior Air Pistol shooter shot an excellent score of 382/400 and was leading the Qualification Round. In the Finals, she won the silver medal with 96.8. Team of Malaika Goel (382), Surabhi Pathak (372) and Albha Oberoi (371) won the Gold Medal.


Air Rifle Youth Men Team of Vikas Dhama (569), Sumedh Kumar (564) and Vivek Kumar (563) won the second Gold medal for India. All the three shooters reached the Finals of this event. Vikas Dhama won the silver medal with a score of 569+99.2.


Anjali Bhagwat won the individual bronze medal with a score of 397+103.4. Team consisting of Anjali Bhagwat (397), Mampi Das (394) and Shreyanka Sadangi (394) won the silver medal.


The Air Pistol senior team of Annuraj Singh (382), Shweta Chaudhary (380) and Harveen Srao (367) won the Bronze medal in team event. Annuraj and Shweta Chaudhary reached the Finals and were 4thand 7th respectively.


The Air Rifle Junior Men team won two bronze medals (individual and team) and Air Rifle Junior women team also won a bronze medal.


Apart from medal winners, 11 shooters reached the Finals, which shows great improvement of scores by the shooters.
