Gopichand should not run academy: Bombay HC

Bombay HC raps Gopichand for running academyMumbai: The Bombay High Court said that it was "ethically" wrong for national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand for running a private academy in Hyderabad.

The court said that it was ethically wrong for him to run a private academy. The statement was in response to the petition filed by Prajakta Sawant alleging mental harassment by the coach after not being allowed to participate in the national camp.

"Ethically, coach who also heads the selection panel should not run a private academy. He may be a good coach. We are not saying otherwise. But in the interest of justice and fairness, a national coach, also part of the selection panel, should not run a private camp," chief justice Mohit Shah and justice AV Mohta said.
