Rupesh Shah wins World Billiards title

Rupesh ShahLeeds: India’s Rupesh Shah defeated Australia`s Matthew Bolton 6-2 in the finals to win the World Billiards (point frame), in the process he became the fifth Indian cueist to win world title twice.

Shah started brilliantly winning the first game, but the Australian came back strongly to win the second game and level the score 1-1.

The scores were level after the fourth game with both players winning two points each. Shah won the fifth game and won three games on the trot after that to win the match 6-2.

Meanwhile, India's Pankaj Advani defeated Dhruv Sitwala 1,381-867 in the semifinals to reach the finals.

Advani got the breaks of 167, 205, 257 and that helped him overcome his opponent.

He will now face reigning champion Mike Russell in the finals, Russell beat Matthew Bolton 1,562-1,028 with breaks of 740, 384, 156 and 100.
