Pro Kabaddi League: Dabang Delhi win against injury-hit Bengal Warriors

Dabang Delhi celebrate their second win of Season 2Kolkata: Dabang Delhi coasted to a 32-21 win over hosts Bengal Warriors who were distinctly unfortunate to lose as many as three players to injuries during the course of the match it all started with Bajirao Hodage was stretchered off as he tackled Kashiling Adake the tall raider from Delhi in the 7th minute.

As if this was not enough they suffered another blow, a major one losing experienced defender Nilesh Shinde. That mishap took place in the 12th minute. He too had to be stretchered off when Rohit Kumar Choudary wriggled out to score a super raid. That effectively finished the Bengal defence and also affected the team’s morale.

Bengal soon suffered an all out to be down at 8-14 by the 17th minute and the half-time score stood at 15-10 in favour of the Dabangs. It looked like the home side might catch up as they stayed within striking distance at 20-14.But at that point their captain Dinesh was held by rival Ravinder during a do or die raid and that heavy tackle resulted in a knee injury to Dinesh. It was sad to see the fight of Bengal being snuffed out in this manner. Dinesh limped off with the help of two team mates.

This cleared the way for the Dabangs and especially their raider Rohit to inflict losses on the Warriors which were difficult to make up. Although Rohit was super tackled by the two Koreans Lee and Kim, the gap was too wide to fill for the hosts. Jang Kun Lee came back to add a couple of bonus points to the tally as Dabangs were a bit charitable towards him. Bengal suffered a second all out to trail further at 19-29. This effectively sealed their fate and dashed their hopes of snatching a point for a less than a 7-point margin of defeat.

This win becomes the second one for Dabang Delhi taking them to fourth place, displacing the home side who slip down to fifth place.
