Shashank Gadre leads 26th NCR Cup golf by three as Gauri Sharma moves clear in girls’ event

Noida, September 24: Shashank Sachin Gadre took a three-shot lead into the final round of the 26th NCR Cup Junior and Amateur Golf Tournament after a three-under 68 on Thursday at Jaypee Greens Wish Town.

Gadre, who opened with a 67, is on seven-under 135 on the par-71 course. The event is run by the Delhi Golf Society (DGS) and carries World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.

Category A and B boys

Sakshity Pureandre shot a five-under 66, the best score in the section, to move into second on four-under 138.

Category B leader Chaitanya Pandey (70) is tied third overall on two-under 140 with Category A players Arshvant Srivastava (71) and Smyaan Gupta (71). Zoravar Singh Toor also shot 68. In Category B, Aditya Tiwari and Ayan Khan share second on 150, ten behind Pandey.

Gauri Sharma breaks clear

Gauri Sharma shot a two-under 69, the only under-par round in the girls’ field, to break an overnight three-way tie. She leads on three-over 145.

Round-one co-leader Aahana Kashyap (71) is second on 147 and Samaira Tomar (71) third on 148. Category B leader Dalisha Chetry shot 72 and is on 149.

Madan 14 ahead in amateur section

In the gentlemen amateur section, Ritik Madan shot a level-par 71, including three-under 32 on the back nine, to reach one-over 143. He leads Kushagra Gaur (77-80) by 14 shots, with Harssh Ranna third on 160.

Taanush Kumar shoots 65

Categories C, D and E played their first round on Thursday. Taanush Kumar shot the lowest score of the tournament so far, a six-under 65 (33-32), to lead Category D boys by seven from Priyansh Jain (72). Mahira Sharma leads Category D girls after a 73.

Avviraaj (74) leads Category C boys by one from Mohammad Rehan, Drona Singh Dhull and Shan Alvi. Aaliyah Kalra shot 72 to lead Category C girls by 11 from Samaira Handa and Aadya Kaushal.

Over nine holes in Category E, Zowra Veer Sikand shot 31 to lead the boys by two from Lakshit Deswal and Siddhik Chaturvedi. Manasvi Rathor leads the girls with 32, four ahead of Kaaira Khunga.
