Maharashtra defeat Punjab by 92 runs

Chandigarh: AB Chinte and SS Bachhav of Maharashtra, who claimed three wickets each, helped their team to register win against Punjab by 92 runs in the four-day drawn encounter in Pune in the quarterfinals of Cooch Behar Trophy for Boys (U-19) today.

 

Punjab, who resumed their day with a total of 210 for the loss of five wickets, just managed 97 runs to end the team innings with a score of 307. Ankit Purstharty scored 71 and Sachin Sohal scored 49 runs. From bowling side, AB Chinte and SS Bachhav scalped three wickets each.


Maharashtra after gaining a crucial first innings lead started their second innings with VH Zol and CG Khurana, they had a partnership of 182 runs in 41 overs. CG Khurana scored an unbeaten century off 127 studded with eight boundaries and two sixes while his partner VH Zol scored an unbeaten 73 off 125 studded with four boundaries and two sixes.

Maharashtra (first innings): 399 for all in 57 overs.

Punjab (first innings): 307 for all in 147.5 overs (Ankit Purthosthy 71, Sachin Sohal 49, Mohit Handa 38, Vinay Chaudhary 34, AB Chinte 3 for 112 and SS Bachhav 3 for 47).

Maharashtra (second innings): 182 for no loss in 41 overs (CG Khurana 100 not out and VH Zol 73 not out).
