Chandigarh: Facing flak from the sports lovers of the city for neglecting the shooting range, the Chandigarh police has finally realised that the Patiala-Ki-Rao Shooting Range, Sector 25, which is in a dilapidated condition, requires maintenance and upgradation.
Interestingly, the police department took 10 years to stir up from its slumber and gave it a thought to renovate the range. The city will face a new ‘avatar’ of the range, which has produced international shooter Abhinav Bindra and hosted two successful national shooting championships in 1975 and 1979.
Officials of the police department said, the range will now have an air-conditioned and computerised 10m pistol arena while 25m rifle and pistol range will also be upgraded, for which the work has already been assigned to a contractor.
