Chandigarh: Local lad Rishabh Sharda and Utkarsh Bhardwaj, hailing from Uttarakhand, overpowered the duo of Calvin Golmei and Rohit Kumar in the quarterfinals of boys U-12 doubles category during the Shivalik Public School CLTA-AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls(U-12 & U-14) being held at the CLTA here.

The winning pair defeated the rivals 3-6, 6-2 and 10-8, while Sagar Bains and Himanshu Mor defeated Sarvesh Maria and Chiraz Singh 6-3 and 6-2 in another match.

In the girls (U-14) category, Akanksha Bhan of Gujrat defeated Jannat Khurana of Punjab 6-1 and 6-3.

In the pre-quarterfinals of boys (U-12) category, Rohit Kumar of Haryana defeated Vipul Mehta of Delhi 4-2, 4-1b while in another match Abhimanyu Vannemreddy of Tamil Nadu overcame Aryaman Agarwal of Uttar Pradesh 3-5, 4-2 and 4-0.

In the girls (U-12) category, Shreya Kalia of Himachal Pradesh defeated Sukanya Biswas 4-1, 4-0, whereas Seerat Kaur Pannu of Punjab went down against local girl Rubani Ahluwalia 4-1 and 4-2.
