New Delhi: Gaganpreet Singh scored a brace as Government Model SSS, Ladowali, Jalandhar, beat Birsa Munda Vidyapitha, Rourkela, 5-2 to win the Nehru Cup junior hockey tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Monday.

Notwithstanding the big margin of victory, the match was a closely fought affair with the two sides staying locked 2-2 until the 60th minute.

Apart from Gaganpreet (3r {+d}, 62n {+d}), Mandeep Singh (32n {+d}), Harjit Singh (60t {+h}) and Simranjeet Singh also scored for the winning team. Sumit Toppo (15th) and Sunil Ekka (24th) scored for the Rourkela outfit.
