Chandigarh: Making the mockery of Children’s Day, which is being celebrated amidst fanfare in city schools today, a disgraceful incident of assault has come to fore. In a shocking incident, players of the junior (U-14) football team, who recently represented the city in the school national games held in Goa, accused the officials, who accompanied them, of harassment.
Two coaches of the UT education department, Sewa Singh and Parveen, have came under the scanner after the parents of players filed a written complaint to the director public instruction (DPI), Sandeep Hans.
Reportedly, the players during the competition were asked to give massage, clean utensils and even to take out liquor bottles from their bags.
“My coach asked me to massage his thighs and legs. We were usually asked to do so during the tournament and when I failed to massage him as per his instructions, he asked me to send another player for the same,” said Sankalp Kanwar, a student of Class VII of Ashiana Public School.
