Panchkula: In order to encourage sports, the Haryana sports and youth affairs department has decided to register boys and girls of the district under the sports physical aptitude test (SPAT) scheme.
A spokesman of the department said under the scheme, all boys and girls of both urban and rural areas between the age group of 8-19 years could register on the department website by tomorrow. Apart from the government schools, boys and girls of recognised and private schools could also apply under the scheme, he added. Under SPAT, boys and girls of 8-14 years attaining 75 per cent marks in the state level competitions would be given a scholarship of Rs 1,500 per month while Rs 2,000 per month would be given as scholarship to boys and girls between the age group of 15-19 years.
