New Delhi:The 52nd edition of the Subroto Cup football tournament for schools, to be held at the Ambedkar Stadium from November 4 to 25, will have a novel feature - a girls’ tournament. The Subroto Society will conduct the girls’ tournament on a trial basis in the under-17 age group, which will also have a team from Afghanistan. Eleven Delhi school teams participated in the preliminary rounds, held at the Ambedkar Stadium from October 10, to qualify for the main round.
In all, nine schools, including some from abroad, are participating in the boys’ section, which will consist of 31 teams in the under-17 age group and 28 in the under-14 section. Air Marshal JN Burma, vice-chairman of the Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society, will inaugurate the tournament on November 4.
