No firing at shooting range yet

Chandigarh: The work of much-awaited shooting range at Panjab University has come to a halt when it was found that substandard quality of material has been used for its construction.

This was revealed at the recently held Senate meeting when a Senator brought bricks used for the construction and broke them in pieces with his hands to prove that the material used is of substandard quality.

Notably, the correspondent found the same after visiting the spot. It was found that the bricks could easily be broken when collided with each other.

As a result, PU Vice-Chancellor RC Sobti constituted an executive committee, including Senator Dharinder Kumar Tayal, Hardiljit Singh Gosal and executive engineer RK Rai, to look into the matter.

When contacted, executive engineer RK Rai said, “We were aware that the material used was of substandard quality even before it came to light and have asked the contractor to remove the same,” said Rai.
