Chandigarh: DAV Senior Secondary School (DAVSSS), Sector 8, reserved their place in the quarterfinals of the Coca Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy (for under-14 boys') after defeating Ryan International, Sector 49, 2-1 at the Sector 17 football stadium on Friday.
Robin (20th and 35th minutes) was the star performer for the winners and netted both the goals. For the losing side, Arshjot scored the consolatory goal in the 46th minute of the match.
Gurteshwar Singh (7th, 34th minute) contributed two goals to the winners' tally, while Krishna scored once in the 28th minute of the play.
In the other matches of the day, St Stephen's School also qualified for the quarterfinals after downing Sikhya School, Sector 46, 5-0.
Chirag was the main scorer for the winners and netted the ball twice.
Suresh, Shahraj and Anuridh contributed one goal each to the team's win.
The last team to make it to the quarterfinal stage was of Saupin's-32 who defeated St Anne's School 2-1.
Aryaman scored both the goals for the winners in the 20th and 35th minutes of the play.
For the losing side, Yash Shrivastava reduced the margin in the 40th minute.
