Chennai: On the occasion of the National Sports Day on August 29, 2011, a new sports management company named “Toss” was launched in Chennai. Toss is a full service 360 degrees sports management company specialising in providing all forms of sports management solutions.

The new company will be focusing on providing services like brand consulting, event management, talent representation, infrastructure solutions, academy operations, tourism and hospitality.

The aim of the company is to become “the one stop shop” for providing sports management solutions for its clients.

M.Rajalingam, Founder and Head-Business of Toss said: “I see this as a good first step in establishing a multi-faceted, multi-disciplined approach to sports management. And I know from experience that this model will work well and we look forward to building a strong foundation of support for our clients.”

Further he added, “Like the 4P’s of marketing, we have developed a 4P model to which we will be implementing in our sports management practice.
The 4P''s are:

•    Participation: To increase sports participation among the people
•    Promotion: To promote sports among the public
•    Platform: To provide platform for budding and professional players
•    Professionalism: To bring in professionalism in the sports management

These can be achieved by organizing more tournaments and leagues, talent scouting at the grassroots level and grooming them up, and finally making sure that the players in the transitional age group [18-21 years] are nurtured well to become professional players, and ultimately coming up with big prize money tournaments, in order to achieve the talent sustainment in the game. I personally believe that if these ideas are implemented, both the sports and the sportspersons can be promoted and developed in India.”
