New Delhi: CAG XI beat Indian Navy by 9-8 in a closely contested knock-out match of the 53rd Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament being played at Shivaji Stadium in New Delhi, on Thursday.

CAG XI scored a goal in the 38th minute of the match through Imran Khan, while Indian Navy equalised in the 8th minute through Jugraj Singh.

Both the teams were 1-1 till the blow of the final whistle. The result was decided by the penalty shootout.

In the shoot-out, CAG XI scored eight goals. Nitham (3goals), Azam(1 goal), Gurpatap (3 goals) and Siddhart  (1 goal) were the goal scorers for CAG. Indian Navy scored seven goals in the shoot-out through Rana (1 goal), Ved (2 goals), Amit(1 goal), Pawan (1 goal) and Sanjit (2goals).

Gurpartap Singh of CAG XI was adjudged man of the match.

In another knock-out match played on Thursday, Indian Air Force beat South Central Railway by 4-3. Indian Air Force scored through Lovedeep (14th, 31st minute), Davinder(27th minute) and Manish(40th minute) while South Central Railway scored through Gurbhej (4th), Seshe (35th) and Lovepreet (49th) minute.

Lovedeep Singh of Indian Air Force was adjudged man-of-the-match.
