New Delhi: As many as 20 affiliated clubs will vie for top honours in the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) 'A ' Division Open Clubs Football League Championship -2016, starting from Monday at CWG Village Sports Complex, Akshardham.
The preliminary league matches will also commence at Dr Ambedkar Stadium simultaneously from December 5 onwards. The participating teams have been divided in three groups decided in the club secretaries meeting: Group- A : Royal Rangers FC, DDA Football Promotion, Delhi Cantt., Frontier FC, Delhi Students, Garhwal Diamond, Delhi Tigers Group- B > Uttrakhand FC, Youngsters, Young Boys, Paschim Heroes, Victory FC, Cosmos FC, Jaguar FC Group- C : Friends United, Young Sports, Punjab Heroes, Bangdarshan, Royal and Ajmal FC.
Two top teams from each group will qualify for super six round-robin league. The top team will be promoted to senior division in the next year’s league. The two bottom most teams will be relegated to B division. The bottom one team of each group after completion of preliminary league will play on round robin basis and the bottom two teams will be relegated to B division next year. It is mandatory for each team to participate in the league. If any team withdraws or refuse to continue the scheduled game, the erring team will also face relegation to lower division. The participating teams must ensure that only eligible and registered players are fielded in their matches, otherwise the teams may lose points on protest from other team. Disciplinary action will also be initiated against the erring player as well as against the club for violation of rule.
The DSA has constituted a league sub-committee with Sharafatullah as chairman, Rajiv Gupta as convenor and Bhola Nath Karmakar, Liquat Ali as members for smooth conduct of the league.
Delhi Tigers FC will take on DDA Promotion Scheme FC in the inaugural match on Nov. 14 at 12.45 pm at CWG Village Sports complex, Akshardham followed by.the second match between Garhwal Diamond and Delhi Cantt. at 2.45pm.
