Chandigarh: Mahilpur Football Academy stunned Baichung Bhutia Football School, New Delhi by 3-0 in the opening match of 14th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament for boys U-17 years that kicked off at Sector-17, Football Stadium, Chandigarh on Thursday.
Both the teams were equally balanced and exhibited contrast game. Mahilpur lads started the game with long high passes where as Bhutia lads were playing with short square passes.
In the 9th minute of play, Mahilpur boys framed an attack from the left wing. Their winger took the ball and sent a short pass towards M. Tanique who game ball to advanced Bhupinder who sent the ball with a power packed shoot into the net of Baichung Bhutia Football School. After scoring early goal Mahilpur team took complete control of the game.
In the 46th minute of play it was again Mahilpur team which scored second goal through Amandeep. This time the move was initiated from the right flank. The right flank of Mahilpur Umesh sent a loafed cross towards the goal area of Bhutia where advanced Amandeep Singh scored the second goal for Mahilpur with a five header. Mahilpur lads were leading by 2-0 at the breather.
On the resumption of play after the lemon break the game started at a dull note. In the 51st minute of play Bhutia lads came up with a fine move. Aishwarya gave a square pass towards left flank where alert Sushant after controlling the ball took a powerful shoot but unluckily the ball struck the bar.
Third goal for Mahilpur was scored by Amritpal by his solo efforts in the 58th minute of play. He took the possession of the ball from almost the half way line ad gave no chance to the advanced defenders of Bhutia. Swamya of Baichung Bhutia and Amandeep Singh of Mahilpur were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow cards for their involvement in play in reckless manner.
In the second match of the day played at Sector 42, Sports Complex, local giants Minerva Football Academy, Chandigarh trounced DS Nadiya Football Club, Kolkata by the huge margin of 16-0. This match proved to be one-sided affair for Minerva Academy. Nadiya lads were no match to Minerva.
MD Sahajahan of Minverva Academy scored five goals in 5th, 12th, 16th, 46th and 87th minutes of play, including one hat-trick. Nongdamba of Minerva also scored five goals for Minerva in 28th 33rd, 34th, 38th, 49th minute of play including one hat-trick. Arjun of Minerva scored two goals for his team in the 69th and 71st minute of play. Jackson scored in 73rd minute of play. Bhagirath scored in 48th minute of play. Moirangthem and Amarjeet scored one goal each in 78th and 83rd minute of play. Arun Malik of D.S. Nadiya, Kolkata was cautioned by the referee in the 84th minute of play for playing in careless manner.
Earlier Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament from Chandigarh inaugurated the tournament at Sector-17, Football Stadium, Chandigarh and took the salute of the march-past by the participating teams.
The Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration is organizing 14th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament (U-17 Boys) from 22nd to 30th September, 2016 at Chandigarh Football Academy Ground, Sports Complex, Sector-42 Chandigarh and Football Stadium, Sector-17, Chandigarh wherein teams from all over India are participating.
Meanwhile, the following players of different teams are declared over-aged by the medical officer.

Medical examination of some more teams was in progress at the time of filling this news.
