Brilliant ton by Pukhraj Singh against Amritsar in U-23 Umesh Kumar Trophy

Amritsar: In the second semi-final match played at Gandhi Grounds Amritsar, Mohali won the toss and elected to bat. They lost their opener Manul Jain for nine with the team’s total reading 24. Next man in Harsrup departed soon for five, leaving Mohali tottering at 32 for 2 in 19.1 overs.

Thereafter, Subeer Hayer and Pukhraj Singh put on 77 runs for the third wicket before Subeer Hayer caught of the bowling of Vinay Chaudhary for 51 off 85 balls inclusive of seven boundaries and one six.

Another fruitful partnership of 53 runs for the fisth wicket between Kohinoor Singh 27 and Pukhraj Singh 26 took the Mohali total to 163 for 5. Thereafter, Pukhraj Singh and Veerteg Singh put on 60 runs for the sixth wicket before Pukhraj Singh was caught by Abhishek Kumar off Satbir Singh after completing a business like century 105 off 184 balls inclusive of 12 boundaries and one six.

Veerteg Singh remained unbeaten on 25 and was involved in a 46 runs stand for the last wicket with Akshay Kansal who hit a quick fire 30 inclusive of five boundaries.

Mohali innings ended at 284 for all in 91.5 overs. Left arm spinner Vinay Chaudhar 5 for 116 and Ashwani Kumar 2 for 49 and Satbir Singh 2 for 31 were the main wicket takers for Amritsar.

In reply Amritsar were 12 for no loss in the remaining 4 overs of the days play. Rohan Marwaha 4 and Shivlove 7 were together when the days play ended.
