New Delhi: Former Delhi State footballer and DSA managing committee member Jagdish Prasad died this morning at his residence in Karol Bagh( New Delhi ) after a brief illness.
He was 68 years old and left behind him his wife, a son and six daughters.
He started playing as a defender in 1962. He was a regular player of Delhi's reputed affiliated clubs viz., Modernnites FC, New Delhi Hereoes, Usmania FC and Veterans Football club and his official Delhi Telecom team regulary in the Club and Institutional Football league championship and also represented these teams in the country's prestigious tournaments namely, Durand, DCM, Rovers, IFA shield, All India Cicil Services Gold Cup etc.
He also represented Delhi state team in the National Football Championship for Santosh trophy on several occasions. He was also apointed as manager of the Delhi team which represented in National Under-19 and Senior Football Football Championship of India.
He retired from Delhi Telecom and was the captain of Civil Services team which won the ALL India championship.
He was the managing committee member of Delhi Soccer Association (DSA ) from 2002 to 2006.
The All India Football Federation ( AIFF ) vice-resident and DSA president Subhash Chopra and the managing committee members and Delhi Veterans Football Club expressed their heart-felt condolences over his untimely death and paid rich tributes.
He was creamted this evening at Panchkuian Creamation ground, New Delhi. A large number of his lovers and close ones were present at his last rites.
