Rizvi College Mumbai and MMCC College, Pune stormed into Red Bull Campus Cricket National Finals on Thursday.
The first match was between Mumbai’s Rizvi College and Chandigarh’s local heroes D.A.V College. Last year’s World Champions D.A.V, won the toss and elected to bat. At the end of 20 overs, the boys from Chandigarh set a target of 131 runs for Mumbai. In a stunning start to the innings, the young champ from DAV Jaskaran Singh Sohi scored 46 runs off 43 balls.
Mumbai’s captain and opening batsman Kevin D. Almeida was the highest scorer of the match with 56 runs. The star performer undoubtedly was Manish Rao from Mumbai who took 3 wickets and stood not out at 29 runs. Rizvi College Mumbai stormed in to the finals by defeating DAV by 7 wickets.
The next to get onto the field were MMCC, Pune and Jain University, Bangalore . The west zone winners, Pune’s MMCC College, won the toss and chose to bat. The battle hardened between the tournament favorites, who were all set to give it their best and enter the finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket. They scored 155 runs with a loss of 8 wickets at the end of the innings.
Jain University, Bangalore gave the champions from Pune a tough fight till the end. Their opening batsman, Suraj Sampath lashed back on the field with 64 runs off 57 balls and was the last man standing. Scoring 32 runs and taking 3 wickets, Avadhoot Dandekar was the declared the man of the match. In a close game, Pune’s MMCC College won by 7 runs.

Rizvi College Mumbai and MMCC College, Pune will play against each other at the national finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket at Stadium 16, Chandigarh on Friday 7th February 3:00pm onwards.
