IFB Boca Juniors Football Champs starts

Chandigarh: IFB Boca Juniors Football Champs kick started the nationwide search for Country's next Maradona and Tevez from the beautiful city of Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh Football Stadium at Sector 17, Chandigarh saw a huge turn out of hopeful participants from one of the power houses of Indian Football. A total of 35 Schools and 18 colleges participated in the respective tournaments held for the last two days.

Head Scout Jamshid Nassiri, former Indain football star was very pleased with the talent that was showcased. The Iranian legend commented, "As always Chandigarh has not let us down, we have found some very talented footballers who could become stars in the future."

In the inter school leg of the tournament we saw DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 emerge as champions after beating St.Stephens School, Togan in the finals by a margin of 2 goals to 1.


Anirudh Thapa was adjudged as the player of the tournament in the School leg of the tournament. He was representing St.Stephens School, Togan. A total of 35 schools participated in this leg.

Khalsa College was crowned the champions of the college leg of the tournament. Khalsa College defeated DAV College, Chandigarh in the finals.

Saurav Routlla representing Khalsa College was selected as the Most Valuable Player among the 200 odd footballers who participated representing 20 Colleges all across Chandigarh.

IFB Boca Juniors Football Champs will now move to New Delhi where the tournament will take place on the 7th and 8th December 2013.
