Chennai: For the 6th consecutive year, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the 2nd largest 2 wheeler company in India participated in the grand finale of ‘MMSC - FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2013’ held at the Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai from 13th – 15th December, 2013. Popularly called as the ‘Honda One Make Race, the three day long racing event witnessed some nail-biting action which saw professional bikers across the country battling for glory in various categories.
Honda has been synonymous with racing and passion of motorcycling worldwide. Through the highly popular ‘Honda One Make Race’ the company continues to provide ‘Fun Riding Experience’ to all participants as well as spectators in a safe and controlled environment.

Excitement across all categories
In the new format, the ‘Honda One Make Race’ tested riding capabilities of participants under three broad categories of races- Novice, Open and Team championship category
Bringing intense adrenaline and excitement to the race, the CBR 250R category was under a Team Championship. Honda leased 16 CBR 250R performance bikes to teams registered at FMSCI. Excluding the engine, chassis and tires of CBR 250R, and enable permitted performance enhancing modifications to the vehicle. Honda further supported participating teams with Original Spare parts worth Rs.10, 000 and set of tyres replacement per round. These vehicles are modified with imported HRC performance kits for an exhilarating output.
In the final round, riders above 23 years got a chance to directly participate in the Open category Championship. A total of 19 participants can qualify in the 150cc ‘CBR 150R’ Championship. Honda’s popular 125cc CBF Stunner provided a unique platform to Novice riders less than 23 years to participate in the race.
Over and above ‘Honda One Make Race 2013’, Honda is also providing CBR 150R with original spares support on lease for Group C and Group D of ‘National Motorcycle Racing Championship’ to 4 teams.
Taking an initiative to spread the racing culture, Honda will sponsor top 4 riders of gymkhana activity from different region of India in every round, to come participate in the race and experience the thrill.
Honda One Make Race: Round 5 and National Championship overview
20 riders competed for CBF Stunner cup and 19 participants qualified in the 150cc ‘CBR 150R’ race.
14 expert riders from 8 teams competed in the Team Championship for CBR 250R race. Participants were judged in their respective categories, of which Top 3 racers were awarded attractive cash prizes (1st – Rs. 7500, 2nd – Rs. 5000, 3rd – Rs. 2500).
Top 3 National Championship winners for CBF Stunner, CBR 150R and CBR 250R Team Category were rewarded with prize money (1st – Rs. 30000, 2nd – Rs. 20000, 3rd – Rs. 10000).
The overall winning team was given away a spanking new CBR 150R and the National champion rider with the Sporty CB Trigger.
Honda’s initiatives for ‘Safety Promotion’
Safety activities held during Round 5 of Honda One Make Race 2013, gave visitors a unique opportunity to get tips on safe riding from Safety Riding Instructors. Honda spreads its belief that fun-biking can also be safe.
Participants and spectators alike, enjoyed slow riding (an activity that aims at enhancing bike balance), and the highly popular Gymkhana activities (a ‘fun’ riding activity for enhancing rider maneuverability and road-sense) at Round 5 of Honda One Make Race, 2013. Even kids participated in safety riding with CRF-50 model which is specially designed to provide experience and education on two-wheeler & road safety.
Aiding first time riders with overall balance, Honda will set up its riding trainers which simulate various traffic, road and weather conditions so that riders can develop a healthy road sense. Currently, all 713 Honda dealerships are equipped with unique riding trainers.
As a responsible corporate, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has set another landmark in promotion of road safety and announced its association with Delhi Police in July’13. Honda has adopted and done a complete makeover of the all new Traffic Training Park in Delhi. This is Honda’s second such initiative after Traffic Training Park in Jaipur which has trained nearly 17000 Jaipur citizens till date.
Participation in Asia Dream Cup
Initiated in 2012 to promote riders and develop riding skills Honda Motor Company, Japan. Riders compete for top spot on CBR250R. Every Asian Honda Company has sponsored 2 riders each to participate in Dream Cup. HMSI has however, sponsored 3 riders - Mr. Sumit Locus Toppo, Mr. Prabhu Arunagiri and Mr. Sarath S. Kumar to in the championship. Fourth and Fifth round of the Cup was held in Suzuka & Autopolish , Japan Sep.13.
