JP Atray Tournament: PCC Trounce ONGC by 6 wickets

Mohali: Playing on their home turf at PCA Stadium Mohali, Punjab skipper Taruwar Kohli's decision to field first paid rich dividends as PCC medium pacers Siddharth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma bowled superbly to to bundle out ONGC for 135 runs in 38.1 overs in the JP Atray tournament here on Friday.

Kaul and Sharma reduced ONGC to 37 for 4 in 13.4 overs. The downward slide of ONGC continued as they lost seven wickets for a mere 70 on board in 19.2 overs.

Then Parveen Gupta 31 and Sarang Rawat 29 added 50 runs for the 8th wicket before Sarang Rawat was caught by Rahul Sharma off left arm spinner Rajwinder with the teams total reading 120 for 8 in 34.1 overs. ONGC finally were bundled out for 135 in 38.1 overs. Siddharth Kaul 4 for 30, Sandeep Sharma 2 for 25 and Taruwar Kohli 2 for 34 sharing the spoils for PCC.


PCC made a sound start with Sunny Sohal and Ravi Inder Singh adding 42 runs for the opening stand before Ravi Inder Singh was caught and bowled by Waqar Ahmed for 20 off 21 balls inclusive of four boundaries. Sunny Sohal went on to score 62 off 66 balls with 11 boundaries before being caught by Kamal Passi off Saurabh Kumar.

PCC scored 139 for 4 in 28.2 overs to register a six wicket win and logged 5 points including a bonus while ONGC got (-1). Siddharth Kaul was named man of the match.

In the 2nd match played at Sector 16 Stadium Chandigarh, first time enterants Defence Accounts Sports Control Board (DASCB) humbled BSNL by five wickets and garnered five points, including a bonus.

In the 3rd match played at GMSSS Sector 26, Income Tax XI got the better of State Bank of Mysore by 25 runs to log four points while State Bank of Mysore got (0).


In the 4th match played at Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium, Panchkula, CAG defeated FCI by six wickets.
