Chandigarh: In the final match of All-India Invitational Handball Tournament (Women) Punjab beat Chhattisgarh by a huge margin 30-24 goals. Top scorers from the winning team were Rajwant 16, Maninder 5, Hempreet Kaur 4, Vanita 3, Ramanjot Kaur 2, Harvinder 1 goal. On the other hand top scorers from the losing side were Amita Rao and Matti 6 goal each, Durga 5, Bhavika 4, Rajni 2, Anamika 1 goal.
On the other side Haryana beat Chandigarh by margin of 36-27 goals and secured 3rd place in the tournament. Top scorers from the winning team were Anumit 10, Pinki and Gurmail 8 goals each, Ritu 3, Rimpi 5, Neeraj 2 goals. On the other hand top scorers from the losing side were Khushboo 10, Deepa 2, Phuljahan 2, Khila 2, Jyoti 5, Kavita 4, Veena and Nishu 1 goal each.
K.K. Sharma, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator and V.K. Singh, IAS, Sectetary Finance cum Sports, Chandigarh Administration were present at the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes to the Winners. Winners of the tournament Punjab got cash award of worth Rs. 1.50 Lacs along with glittering trophy. The runners up Chhattisgarh got cash prize of Rs. 75 Thousands, whereas third place holders Haryana got cash prize of Rs. 50 Thousands. The other prominent presents were Sh. Sunil Bhatia PCS Director Sports, Dr. JPS Sidhu Joint Director Sports and K. S Bharti Distt. Sports Officer.
